My Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Man Of The Year Campaign

Want to help me cure cancer? Believe it or not, there is a simple way. Just donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. You don't need to know molecular biology or radiology. You don't need know statistical analysis nor would you need to perform any of that.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was started in 1949 because at that time, a child diagnosed with leukemia had almost a zero chance of survival. Since then, due in no small part to the efforts of the LLS, childhood leukemia patients' survival rate has risen to 88%. LLS, unlike some other charitable donating organizations like Ko-off-cough, spends a huge amount of money it raises on actual research, on dispensing the latest accurate medical information to patients, and on treatment as well as paying for treatment.

My campaign will raise money through four different tracks. Three of them are discussed here on the website below. For a summary of why I am doing this, visit my Why Me tab.

Fashion Show at the Bentley/Lamborghini auto showroom, benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

If you've walked by the Bentley/Lamborghini showroom on Van Ness and O'Farrell and always wanted to go in and check out the cars, this is your one chance. On Thursday, May 23, we are hosting a Fashion Show Benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with special guests including Supervisors David Chiu and Katy Tang. The Show is produced by my dear friend Monique Zhang and Joshua Bernstein. Monique is a local fashion designer to high-end clients in San Francisco. We will be serving some wonderful wines from Napa and equally wonderful delicacies courtesy of Region from the Embarcadero.

2. Social storming begins!

Our fund raising program of social storming has started. Social storming is our way to raise money in a very painless and fun way. We partner with a local business, usually a restaurant or bar, and we bring in customers in huge numbers. In return, we get a cut of the sales for that day, or we may charge a cover donation. Either way, you stormer have fun and we have fund. Check out the page for more details of where we're storming!

3. Auctions are up!

Click above to go to my auction page. Here, you will see some great people who are helping out by donating their time and expertise. If you are interested in bidding, follow the link near the bottom to the auction site, www.sunnykarma.com, where I have and will place all my online auction inventory.

So far, who or what do we have on our auction? Go ahead and check the page for more information, but here's a quick summary:
  • We have Randy Williams, founder and CEO of the largest Angel Investment community in the world, the Keiretsu Forum, helping out by offering a two-hour gentle stroll along the waterfront of San Francisco.
  • Super connected networker, George Parrish, enjoys chatting and helping start-ups get their ducks in order. He especially enjoys doing so over a fine meal. And so it is with George and three other guests.
  • Another super networker, Kevin Nichols, will ask you and up to six others to join him on a quick run along Fishermen's Wharf to the end of the Marina before settling down for a nice wine-and-cheese picnic. During that run time and the picnic, you can learn a lot on how to be a successful networker. There are key techniques that Kevin can explain to you, as only an insider can.
  • Anthony Alfidi is an angel investor and would like to both share his knowledge and views of the current economic landscape, and to listen to your entrepreneurial ideas. Got some? Ask Anthony, a man well plugged into the pulse of entrepreneurship in San Francisco.
  • Founder and CEO of one of the city's darling and successful start-ups, GetAround, Jessica Scorpio, is offering an afternoon lunch with her. If you're thinking about starting a company, it pays to get the full story about how to do it right, and what wrong things to avoid doing, from a person who has been there.
  • Hey, want to do something fun? How about a game of basketball? Bring your team (of up to 10 players) and play a game of college-style hoops with the San Francisco Police Department's basketball team. Can you hang with the boys in blue for two 20 minutes halves?
  • So you have an idea and want to know if you can or should patent it. Want to know what the whole process is? Well, I have a secret for you. My friend, C, is a patent investigator. She knows the whole ins and outs of going through the patent process. (She has asked me to keep her name anonymous due to professional and personal reasons.) She is wiling to chat with you during a nice Sunday brunch - a mutually convenient Sunday - to help you through the legal and operational maze of patents. This is a great deal, much better than talking to attorneys who may just give you a lot of "maybe this, maybe that". C will set you on the right path.
